Prepare for your initial consultation

Buying a new home is a process that is both detailed and exciting. If you are like many of my curious clients, you may be reading this with a pen and paper off to the side, jotting down all of your home buying questions for your potential realtor. That is great! I love educating my clients and answering questions, and I cannot wait to answer yours!

Define your price range

While many potential buyers may think they need to find a home first and then apply for a loan, the reality is actually the opposite. You will want to consult with a lender before you start shopping for two reasons: 1) To discuss what your down and monthly payments can be at different price points, and 2) To obtain a pre-approval letter. When you attach your pre-approval letter to an offer on a home, it gives you a competitive edge by showing the seller will know that you are serious and able to afford the home.

If you are not already working with a lender, I would be happy to connect you with a local lender during our initial consultation.

Ask yourself these questions

Do you have a preferred neighborhood?
- Is proximity to schools, playgrounds, and your place of employment important to you?
- How many bedrooms and bathrooms would you like?
- Do you need a home office? Is there a particular home style you would like (Both externally and internally)?
- What is your ideal price range?

Once the initial consultation is completed and loan pre-approval has been obtained, it is time to start the exciting part - viewing homes!

When we get together to view properties, I can also acquaint you with many of the local hidden gems and amenities in the area. Once we find “The One” and are sure that you are ready to move to the next step, we will begin the offer process.
